The Lake Washington Ship Canal connects Puget Sound to Lake Washington, making it possible to take a boat from Lake Washington out into the Sound. The route will take you through Montlake Cut and into Lake Union first, and then you’ll pass through the Ballard Locks to get into Puget Sound with your boat. This can be a great route if you’re renting a boat in Lake Washington for multiple days and looking to cruise around the highlights of the coast of Seattle.
Puget Sound is a beautiful inlet of the Pacific Ocean around Seattle. It’s known for whale watching and boating opportunities, beautiful scenery, and outdoor activity offerings. If you visit Puget Sound, make sure you spend at least one day on a boat to see more of the waterways and enjoy whale watching.
Puget Sound is great, you can expect to catch fish like chinook, coho, sockeye salmon, trout, steelhead and Pacific halibut to name a few. Book a fishing charter from Puget Sound or rent a fishing boat on your own and cruise out to make some epic catches. A fishing charter with a professional guide may be the best option if you’re new to Puget Sound, and they will provide you with all the bait, gear, and tackle you need for a successful fishing day.
